Once you have successfully completed both the practical assessment and online theory components, you will be component in installing, commissioning, and decommissioning split system air conditioning systems under 18kWR. The course will also covers cutting, deburring, bending, and flaring copper tubing, as well as brazing copper to copper, brass, and steel fittings.

Get Skilled Training has designed this split system course for electricians or 3rd or 4th year electrical apprentices, or plumbers and gas fitters that have applied for recognition of prior learning (RPL). This air conditioning course in Darwin is designed to provide formal qualifications that comply with current ARC licencing requirements.
Our air conditioning course include everything required for the job, which includes wall hung, floor and ceiling suspended, cassette and ducted fan coil systems and water heating heat pump systems.
This split system course excludes competencies required for service, maintenance, repair, fault finding, diagonostic and electrical work or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump plant and equipment.

For Electricians – Current Electrical Work Licence
For Electrical 3rd or 4th year Apprentices – Who have successfully completed the units of competency outlined in the first year of an electrotechnology apprenticeship, who have at least two years of industry experience
Recognition of prior learning is offered to non-electrical workers who wish to undertake this course who have a trade qualification in the following trades:
– Gas fitters
Trade Assistants working for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning companies may also be eligible to complete this qualification with recognition of prior learning (RPL).
Note: For students wishing to undertake installation and decommissioning of split systems in New South Wales, there is additional legislation that requires Air Conditioning work to be completed by a Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Trades person or under the supervision of qualified supervisor in this specialised trade. 2 Days of Practical Training and Assessment* with an online theory component
*Please note – The number of days of face to face practical training and assessment is determined for each individual learner based on a pre-screening assessment and how each person meets the pre-requisite requirements. For those who do not meet all the pre-requisites or require further training as determined during the pre-screening by your assessor, there may be additional face to face training (Up to 40 Hours) or workplace learning in the industry (Up to 120 hours) to meet the volume of learning for this qualification.
Students have up to 12 months from the date of enrolment to complete this qualification.

Course Outcome & Career Pathways
On successful completion of both the practical and online theory components of this course, you will satisfy the requirements of the Australian Refrigeration Council to apply for a restricted Refrigerant Handling License, which is also known as a ARC / ARCtick Licence.
This will allow you to install and decommission split system air conditioners under 18kW.
Completing this split system course at one of our delivery locations allows you to undertake further studies, including a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32211) or other qualifications listed in the UEE11 Training Package.
