*Please note – The number of days of face to face practical training and assessment is determined for each individual learner based on a pre-screening assessment and how each person meets the pre-requisite requirements. For those who do not meet all the pre-requisites or require further training as determined during the pre-screening by your assessor, there may be additional face to face training (Up to 40 Hours) or workplace learning in the industry (Up to 120 hours) to meet the volume of learning for this qualification. Students have up to 12 months from the date of enrolment to complete this qualification

Split System Course Purpose
The UEE20111 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems course is a formal qualification that can be undertaken to enhance skills and qualification in air conditioning.
This course is relevant to electricians and 3rd and 4th year electrical apprentices, as well as plumbers and gas fitters who apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.
When taking part in the split system course, you can gain the skills in installation, commissioning and decommissioning of single head, split AC and heat pumps systems that do not exceed 18 kW.
This air conditioner course covers all the requisite knowledge and skills needed in the air conditioning industry according to current standards.
This includes preparing and connecting refrigerant tubing, bending and flaring, as well as evacuating split systems according to manufacturer’s instructions

Course Prerequisites
To take part in this course, you will need to be:
- A licensed electrician holding a current Electrical Work Licence
- A qualified plumber or gas fitter interested in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- A 3rd or 4th electrical apprentice who has successfully completed the units of competency outlined in the first year of an electrotechnology apprenticeship and has at least two years of industry experience
- For non-electrical workers – Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is offered if you have a trade qualification in plumbing / gas fitting

Course Funding
For electrical workers, plumbers and air conditioning trade assistants currently working in the construction industry in Western Australia, funding is available with the Construction Training Fund to reduce training costs and to help businesses and employees to develop and enhance their skills.
A maximum of $500 is available for training undertaking in Metropolitan Areas such as Perth. Click here for more details on this funding opportunity.

Course Outcome & Career Pathways
Air Con Course Outcome
Successful completion of Get Skilled Training’s Perth air conditioning course will satisfy the requirements the ARC to apply for a restricted Refrigerant Handling License.
This refrigerant handling licence is known as the Restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Licence, or simply ARC licence.
This licence will allow you to install and decommission split system air conditioners under 18kW.
On completion of our Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump System course you can then apply for your ARC licence, and be ready to progress your career further in the air conditioning industry.

Career Pathways
You may undertake further studies to gain additional qualifications on successful completion of the split systems air conditioning course, these pathways can include a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32211) or other qualifications listed in the UEE11 Training Package.
