This split system course in Melbourne will show you how to perform the installation as well as teach you about commissioning and decommissioning of single head, split air conditioning and heat pump systems using a prescribed routine. Please also note, this air conditioning course only deals with systems that contain a maximum plant capacity of 18kW.

Note: For students wishing to undertake installation and decommissioning of split systems in New South Wales, there is additional state-specific legislation that requires any air conditioning work to be completed by a Refrigeration or Air Conditioning tradesperson or under the supervision of a qualified supervisor in this specialised trade. Victoria Only – Things to Know Beforehand
If you finish this air conditioning course in Melbourne, you must then apply to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) for your licence.
There are 2 types of licences you can apply for with the VBA:
1. A licence to be a licensed practitioner – A licensed practitioner is able to certify their own work.
2. Registration to work under an employer’s licence.
Our split system course can allow you to hold a Refrigerant Handling Licence with the ARC – the body responsible for overseeing licenses and trade authorisations Australia wide.

Course Outcome & Career Pathways
If you are successful in completing the course, you will be eligible to apply for a restricted Refrigerant Handling Licence or simply known as a ARC Licence. This will allow you to install and decommission split systems under 18kW, including ducted, wall hung, floor and ceiling mounted units.
The official name of this licence is the Restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Licence.
On completion of the split system air conditioning course, you may undertake further studies to gain additional qualifications. These qualifications include a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32211) or other qualifications listed in the UEE11 Training Package.
