If you are an electrician, a 3rd and 4th electrical apprentice, or tradesperson who wants to add to their skill set and attain a formal qualification, the UEE20111 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is the air conditioning course for you.
This split system course in Melbourne will show you how to perform the installation as well as teach you about commissioning and decommissioning of single head, split air conditioning and heat pump systems using a prescribed routine. Please also note, this air conditioning course only deals with systems that contain a maximum plant capacity of 18kW.
Our teaching staff are industry experts who will give you instruction in working with a large range of systems including wall mounted, floor and ceiling suspended, cassette and ducted fan coil systems as well as water heating pump systems.
It is important to note that the course is not for attaining competency in service, repair, maintenance, fault finding and electrical work, or commercial air conditioning, heat pump plant or refrigeration installation. For 3rd and 4th Year Electrical Apprentices – Who have Successfully completed the units of competency outlined in the first year of an electrotechnology apprenticeship, and have at least 2 years of industry experience.
For Non-Electrical Workers – Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available provided you are qualified in one of the following trades:
Note: For students wishing to undertake installation and decommissioning of split systems in New South Wales, there is additional state-specific legislation that requires any air conditioning work to be completed by a Refrigeration or Air Conditioning tradesperson or under the supervision of a qualified supervisor in this specialised trade. Before signing up to this split system course, we recommend that you contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20 to discuss your specific situation and eligibility.
Our Melbourne course fees: $1650 (GST-free) paid after enrolment.
The course duration will be determined during a pre-assessment process. The split system course includes up to 2-6 days of practical tasks and assessments. This will be based on your current training needs and experience. The face to face training is completed with an online theory component which must be completed before undertaking the hands on practical training component. Students may also be required undertake workplace learning in industry to fulfil their training requirements before undertaking assessment. Students will be given up to 12 months to finish this qualification from the date of enrolment.
As our coursework component is online, you are able to complete this portion of the course at your own pace, whenever are wherever works best for you.

You will also learn about maintaining documentation which incorporates recording refrigerant recovery and charging. You will also understand the importance of warranty cards as well as the need to complete an installation checklist. This course also covers environmental and sustainable work practices during the hands-on portion of this air conditioning training course.
If you are successful in completing the course, you will be eligible to apply for a restricted Refrigerant Handling Licence or simply known as a ARC Licence.
The official name of this licence is the Restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Licence.
With a successfully completed course, our pupils are qualified to progress on to training for more advanced qualifications in the field. These qualifications include a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32211) or other qualifications listed in the UEE11 Training Package.
