Brisbane Restricted Electrical
Online Theory / Simulated Workplace with on job training logbook
4-5 days of practical training and assessment depending on your trade background.
While workers in many different industries need a Restricted Electrical Licence to perform their duties, Get Skilled Restricted Electrical courses specialise in helping plumbers carry out the limited electrical work that’s relevant to their trade.
With purpose built equipment designed for training and assessing licensed plumbers who are looking to build on their skills, we’re able to provide highly detailed and relevant course lead by our trainers who have years of on-job experience working with hot water systems including electrical fault finding, testing and disconnect/reconnect.
After finishing this course you’ll be given a Statement of Attainment certificate which is valid in all Australian states and will allow you to apply for a Restricted Electrical Licence. This licence will be subject to restrictions based on your specific work area and the units you’ve completed as well as state and territory requirements.
As this is a restricted electrical course for those who have a chosen trade or calling, you will need to apply for a restricted electrical permit with the electrical safety office. This can be done through our online learning management system when you create a profile online.
You will need to have a current QBCC Plumber’s Licence to enrol in this course.
Restricted Electrical Permit
You need a current restricted electrical permit to enrol in this course. To be eligible to receive your permit, you must have a base trade or calling with current qualifications that are Cert III or above and any overseas qualifications you have must be recognised by Trade Recognition Australia. If you don’t have a base trade or calling but you do have five years of experience performing incidental electrical work, you may apply for a restricted electrical permit provided you can supply evidence.
You have one year from the day you receive your permit to complete your restricted electrical course, so it’s recommended to finish your online theory and practical course during this period.
Some units for this course must be completed before the assessment for other units can be undertaken. To see all of the units your Restricted Electrical Licence for plumbers requires, scroll down to the “Units of Competency” section or call our student enrolment team.
